Heh. I forgot all about this place. I was looking through my Google Domains info and making some adjustments to some of them, and saw this. "Hey!", I said, "I forgot all about that!"
Aaaaanyway, here I am. I'll try to start posting more regularly.
This blog looks a little plain. Maybe I'll try to spruce it up a bit. But not now. No, not now.
A lot has happened since I posted here last. I finally settled on Fosstodon for my Mastodon home. You can find me at https://fosstodon.org/@arth. I've been there for quite a while now. I don't post a lot, but I'm there. Follow me if you're also a Mostodonian. Say hi!
A recent family crisis put me back in contact with some family I hadn't spoken to for a very long time. We were communicating through a huge group text, and once the crisis had passed we all agreed that we wanted to stay in contact. We were having fun talking together, but the group text wasn't sustainable long term. So I set up a place called The Hollingsworth Hub where we can all gather and talk in our own cozy little place. It's really nice.
One other thing that came out of the recent crisis is my renewed interest in geneology. I had made attempts in the past but always dropped it after a while because I just got overwhelmed. Reliable, accurate sources for the earlier generations, and I'm talking about 400 years ago, are just non-existent. Everyone copies everyone else's family trees from that far back, but a large chunk of it is not properly sourced. I'd had enough of that noise.
So this time I decided to focus on just my great grandfather and his siblings. The chances of me finding good documentation on this twig of the family are far greater. At least I hope it will be. You can track my progress at the Descendants of Daniel Hollingsworth (1853 - 1934) web site.
That's about all I have for now. Stay tuned for more of my ramblings.
